What is a Small Group?
A Small Group is made up of 6 to 12 people who meet weekly for fellowship, Bible study and prayer in peoples homes or here on campus. Each group is led by a trained facilitator. The group meets for an hour and a half and usually enjoy refreshments. Some groups also incorporate a time of worship.
Why are Small Groups a vital part of Calvary Chapel Lexington?
We consider Small Groups to be the backbone of our ministry and the place where much of the ministry, fellowship and caring for one another takes place. They are an excellent place to deepen one’s relationship with the Lord and other Christians. And most importantly it’s biblical according to Acts 2:42-47.
What is the required commitment?
Each Small Group session lasts for about 12 weeks. We’ve broken the year into 2 sessions (fall and winter/spring). Your commitment is key to the success of your Small Group and it is encouraged that you stay with the group for the year. However, there is the freedom to try other groups or to even take a break from Small Groups depending on your circumstances. Groups do not meet during the summer months, though some continue to meet informally or socially.
What do Small Groups study?
The studies are based on the previous weekend’s sermon. Pastor John teaches from a New Testament book on Sunday mornings. Book by book, chapter by chapter, verse by verse. Questions are developed based on the passage and the sermon.
What about childcare?
Some groups welcome children and have arrangements in place while others do not. Make sure you find this out with the host or facilitator before signing up for a group.
How do I sign up for a group?
Simple. Just check out the Small Groups Counter in the Main Sanctuary and sign up for the group that is best for you
