CHILDREN’S MINISTRY“Whoever receives one little child like this in My name receives Me” ~ Matthew 18:5 Children have a special place in the heart of Jesus. We read of Jesus in scripture laying His hands on them and blessing them. He also instructed His disciples to “Let the children come” to Him. (Matthew 19:14-15) We, therefore, place a great emphasis on ministering the love of God to the children at Calvary Chapel. Each service offers ministry for the children. Because we believe they are important and ministering to them in love is a Biblical principle, we treat the offices of Nursery Attendant and Sunday School Teacher with high regard. Our teachers must, therefore, have a reputation for being a committed believer and complete an application process in order to teach or assist in any classroom. This includes making a commitment to meetings and training workshops, regular attendance at church and maintaining a lifestyle consistent with that of a believer. We believe children should learn the Bible at a level they can understand. Therefore, at Calvary Chapel we have classes the full length of the service for children age three through fifth grade. We begin with a time of worship and then kids are dismissed to the appropriate class. These classes include through the Bible teaching, games, and life application activities that are designed to reinforce the Bible lesson of the day. We encourage the children to memorize Bible verses and give opportunities for the kids to put their faith into action. We also provide quality nurseries for children from birth to age three.
Calvary Kids' Club Our Wednesday evening Kids' Club is a discipleship program for children age four through fifth grade. We have a super staff of committed teachers that are anxious for each child to know and love the Lord. They actively work to build relationships with the kids and teach them how to build relationships with Jesus and each other. We have great kids that have a blast playing and working together. At Kids’ Club we have special nights during the year to celebrate birthdays and to allow the children to use what they have learned. Everyone’s favorite is our infamous end of the year sleepover!
Each summer we hold a Vacation Bible School. This is a jam-packed week of Bible stories, crafts, games, music and fun! Like everything done at Calvary Chapel Lexington, it is with a biblical basis focused on teaching and encouraging the children about following Jesus. On October 31 we offer a Christian alternative with our annual Fall Festival. We have food, games, contest, face painting and usually a special activity or two. There is lots of candy, fun, and fellowship for all. Children's Ministry Cooperative We strive to support parents in the task of raising Christian children. We feel this is a joint venture between our church and parents. Therefore, we have developed a Children's Ministry Cooperative. We encourage parents to get involved in some way in the ministry of their children.
